Hang — as a source of pleasure, will introduce you to the phenomena of perception of reality through vibration, sound and acoustic resonance
Why your handpan could end up as a dusty souvenir…
You have no idea how many amazing instruments just sit on shelves, never unlocking their true potential. Bought it, got excited, but something didn’t click… Why is that?
It’s all about the path you choose. Doesn’t matter if you’re learning on your own or with a teacher – if you go down the wrong route, the spark will die out fast.
Let’s compare two approaches.
1️⃣ Performance Mastery – the goal is to play whatever they ask you to.
2️⃣ Following Your Inner Melody – the goal is to enter a trance-like state, shut off the “mental chatter,” and follow your inner music. It’s about exploring yourself and feeling deep pleasure.
These approaches are completely different from each other – they take totally different routes.
In performance, you learn to play basic rhythms, then patterns, aiming to impress the teacher, your friends, or whoever. You keep learning, practicing, and grinding for hours…
In the method I work with, the first thing you do is learn how to enjoy yourself and switch off the internal dialogue through your hand movements.
Both methods are solid and proven, but they’re worlds apart. One is about structure, practice, and memorizing, the other is about finding your vibe, letting go of thoughts, and improvising. Both systems are well thought-out, almost like math.
So what’s the catch?
? In performance mastery, you’re learning to play something pretty, a popular tune, but you’re never learning to play what’s truly inside you! A lot of people don’t even hear their own melody, but they can easily play whatever they’re asked.
⚡ In the method I use, you can easily capture the attention of your audience and vibe with them through your improvisation, but cannot good luck playing «My Heart Will Go On» if this not your favorite ?
I’m using these two methods to show how different approaches can be and how important it is to make the right choice!
The result depends entirely on your goal! If you want to improvise and play the music of your soul, but you’re training in performance mastery, your inspiration will burn out. And before you know it, that 100k handpan will just sit there, gathering dust… How many instruments have already turned into souvenirs?
How do you figure out where to go? Picture these two scenes:
? Scene 1 – You’re on stage, they ask you to play a song, and you nail it. Then they ask for another, and you crush that too… What are you feeling? Does that get you excited?
If yes, then that’s your path!
⛰️ Scene 2 – You’re on stage, or in your favorite spot, with an amazing handpan in your hands that gives you chills. You start playing and create whole new worlds with rhythm and sound, people around you feel it, and together you all dive into this groove, bliss, and pure joy. How does that sound to you?
Which one resonates more?

P.S. If you want to try the immersion method – hit me up. I’ll teach you in one session. And the video above is my latest improv – maybe it’ll spark some inspiration. Big hug!
